Getting Around Edinburgh

The most economical way of getting around the city is via Lothian Buses, to local bus company. Buses usually run every 5-30 minutes, depending on the route. The number 42 and 24 buses run roughly every 20 minutes. Tickets are £1 for a single journey, £2.30 for a day saver ticket. There are no part-route or return fares and drivers do not give change, so always have a pound coin available!

The Lothian Buses website gives information about bus times and routes and has a useful route planner, showing all bus routes around the city.

Alternatively, one can use one of the many taxis, fares are usually about £5 for transport between the centre and the King's Buildings.

Transport from/to the Airport

For travel between the city and the airport, located just 20 minutes from the centre, we suggest Lothian Buses' Airlink Service priced at £3.50 for a single, £5 for a return. The Airlink 100 departs from Waverley Train Station in the city centre every 10 minutes.
